When we see a hero, we are always amazed at their feat of bravery, courage, wisdom, love, grace, patience, kindness, and all other virtues.  And we fail to realize that heroes are not born, but made.  David fought against a formidable enemy, 9 feet tall and probably the most burly football player the world has ever seen.  But he was just another battle.  When you’re fighting lions and bears as a post-breakfast workout, Goliath seems small (or at least smaller) in stature.  So the take away is:  

Fight your Goliaths daily, not when everyone is watching.  

At least a true gentleman is always a gentleman, whether “she” is there or not.
